Khutbah

Khutbah (Sermon) should not be too long.

I am definitely against any kind of "khutbah" which is long and draggy

One of the pillars of "khutbah" is that it should be in Arabic and the phrase that is part of the pillars is when the Imam says "Ittaqullah....." (Do fear of God... (of which the word fear is debatable (another story)), the rest of any other long and winding blabbering is considered as a further explanation and clarification on the "Ittaqullah..." which to me is fine, but to talk over and over again about 'dadah' every other week can make your jamaah go sleepy or even worse avoid the Jumaat prayer totally.

Khutbah should not be in the form of prepared text by the Jabatan Agama Islam. The subject and the content of the khutbah should never be controlled by the state unless if the text is proven to be against Islam. It should be the subject relevant to the "qaryah" /vicinity of the "jamaah". If the problem within the community at present is about corruption, you cant talk about 'mat rempit' !

Khutbah should be short, precise and straight to the point. Leave the rest of the ranting to their wives and mothers. They have enough of it at home.

No. I don't go for Friday prayer but I am going to miss my Idul Fitri Solat at Masjid Zahir this year...... *sigh*

Ps: Aku cakap pasal khutbah ni sebab aku geram khutbah Imam kat kampung aku tu selalu amik kesempatan berleter berjela-jela waktu khutbah raya ! Sebab tu aku suka lari ke Masjid Zahir untuk sembahyang Raya. Imam kat situ tak cakap banyak..
